Nyngan golf club report
Nyngan Golf Club saw exciting competition over two weekends, with Michael Beetson and the duo of Anthony Ah-See and Anthony Griffiths claiming victories, while Twilight Golf continues with only five weeks remaining.

Weekend Winners at Nyngan Golf Club
Michael Beetson (Saturday, February 22, 18-hole individual stableford) and a pair of Anthonys (Ah-See and Griffiths) in the popular nine-hole, two-person ambrose on Sunday, February 23, are the latest weekend winners at Nyngan Golf Club.
Saturday’s Individual Stableford
On Saturday, February 22, an 18-hole individual stableford event was held. Michael Beetson (35 points) was the winner from Jackson Hughes (34 points). Hughes held out third-placed Chicky Parry (also 34 points) via a countback.
A countback was also used to settle fourth and fifth place, with both players finishing on 32 points. Lisa Herbert was fourth, with Marina Kennedy fifth.
Nearest the pins went to Mandy Martin (second), Chicky Parry (fourth), Mandy Martin (eighth in two shots), Michael Beetson (14th), and Marina Kennedy (17th).
Sunday’s Two-Person Ambrose
Forty-eight (48) players participated in the nine-hole, two-person ambrose on Sunday, February 23.
It was a day for Anthonys, with the all-Anthony combination of Anthony Ah-See and Anthony Griffiths winning with a score of 31.00 nett.
Timmy Lewis and Chook Hawley (31.25 nett) were second, with Tim and Janine Tulenew (31.50 nett) in third.
Tim and Janine Tulenew held out both Shane Rose and Jackson Cox (fourth) and Lisa Herbert and Douglas (fifth) via countback.
Richie Colbran and Wayne Arandale went within 78cm of the 11th pin in two shots to headline the nearest the pins, with Anthony Ah-See (12th), Jamie Barrow (within 97 cm of the 13th), Jackson Cox and Shane Rose (within 88cm of the 16th in two shots), and Mitchell Williams (17th) the other nearest the pins.
February 15 and 16 Wrap-Up
On Saturday, February 15, an 18-hole stroke event was contested. Will Black was the winner with 66 nett, with Tony Lewis (69 nett) taking second on a countback from Blake Stein (69 nett) in third.
A countback was also required to separate fourth from fifth, with Reg Herbert earning fourth from Michael Beetson, both players having rounds of 70 nett.
Nearest the pins went to Reg Herbert (second), Mandy Martin (fourth), Blake Stein (14th), Will Black (16th in two shots), and Tony Lewis (17th).
Sunday’s Ambrose
A big gathering of 60 players played a nine-hole, two-person ambrose on Sunday, February 16.
Jackson Hughes and Brendan Smith (30.75 nett) were the winners.
Tony Lewis and Greg Matherson finished second after a three-way countback from David Rose and Julian McDougall (third) and Jamie Barrow and Graham Tomek (fourth). The second- to fourth-placed teams all scored 31.25 nett.
Mitch Williams and Toby Smith (31.50 nett) were fifth.
Nearest the pins went to Nate Matheson and Les Dorrington (first in two shots), Chicky Parry (second), Jackson Hughes (fourth), Kurt Whaley and Tim Tulenew (eighth in two shots), and Jamie Barrow (ninth).
Twilight Golf
Twilight golf is also continuing along nicely with only five weeks remaining. Players are asked to keep moving as the days are slowly getting a bit shorter.
Round 18 winners included Black-Smiths, Sheather’s Contracting, Foodworks, Royden Rockers, Daniel Marton Plumbing, Ausmine Engineering, Crack-N-Plumbers, Shooting Birdies, Rycon ‘Fairway to Heaven,’ Murphy’s Hardware, and Neill Earthmoving.
The Round 18 weekly winners – with a score of 47 points – were Daniel Martin Plumbing (Robyn Harris, Annette Webster, David Martin, and Troy Stephens).
